I love how you break down shadow work. I've been doing it for years and it is easily the most profound and rewarding, as well as difficult, work I have done on myself. I'd like to point out too that the shadow self can also be positive traits that we repressed because of our environment! Personally, I repressed a lot of joy and enthusiasm because "staying under the radar" was a survival tactic. Have you had any experiences like this too?
Hi Maggie! I'm so glad you spoke to that! I experience that the most currently, this repression of my joy and peace. The work I've done around this has shown me that I repressed it out of fear that it will be taken away from me, so I try to protect myself by numbing myself from feeling it and keeping myself in a state of chaos, and discomfort. Hoping that we can all see the gift of our joy, and find enough safety to allow ourselves to embody and feel more of it in our life and relationships!
That makes so much sense! It's surprising what we bury for what actually are "good" reasons as children. I'm so glad you are sharing your work with others because I think it some of the most meaningful work one can do for oneself.
