This story is a powerful reminder that our healing comes from facing the uncomfortable emotions and beliefs we carry, even when they feel overwhelming. It’s through sitting with our pain and giving it space that we find freedom and peace.
In a recent session, I had the privilege of guiding one of our Codependency Alchemy members through a transformative inner child healing experience. It was a journey of reclaiming the parts of themselves that had been hidden and hurt for so long. We uncovered deep stories of pain, shame, and guilt—narratives that many of us carry from childhood.
In Kristen’s case, her stories were rooted in a childhood spent walking on eggshells, trying to make her mother happy at the expense of her own joy and authenticity. As I prompted Kristen in our session, her inner child expressed feelings of "I'm not enough," "I don't matter," and "I have to hide the truth to protect myself." But through this process, something powerful happened—these parts of herself were brought to the surface, acknowledged, and loved.
This is always where the magic happens.
The healing came through her words of compassion for this part of her: "I love you so much. I'm so sorry you had to deal with all that. You never deserved any of it, and you should have been cherished every day of your life."

By connecting with our younger selves—whether they’re four, sixteen, or somewhere in between—we give them the opportunity to finally release the burdens they’ve been carrying for so long.
Together, I guided Kristen on a journey where she and her inner child released their fear and transmuted it with love, symbolized by a beam of white light. They no longer had to hide the truth of their experiences or protect themselves from shame.
In this process, our inner child gets to find a new role: the four-year-old version of Kristen wanted to play and explore, while the sixteen-year-old discovered the power of feeling complete within herself—free from the need for external approval. They no longer had to carry the burden of hiding; they were free to just be.
Kristen’s experience illustrates the immense power of inner child healing, allowing us to reclaim lost parts of ourselves, to remember our wholeness again, and to live from a place of love and authenticity. It’s a testament to the inner truth that we don’t have to do this alone—community and connection can provide the safe space we need to journey back to ourselves.
